Artworks for Sale - Selected Artworks from a Private Collection
A private collection of art and decorative items collected by the Rothschild family and by their descendants with items dating from the 17th to the 21st Century. The works vary greatly in price (£400-£60,000) and style and include paintings, prints, drawings, furniture, sculptures, garden statues, decorative accessories and ceramics.
All of the works of art are displayed and housed on the Ashton Estate, nr Oundle ( Northamptonshire ), many within the beautiful holiday houses set within the Estate. Magical woodland, rolling countryside and an abundance of Listed buildings form the perfect backdrop to such an aesthetic experience. All the art works displayed here can be viewed and inspected on request.
For art and nature lovers, the Lady Rothschild Holiday Houses offer an idyllic country retreat – this unique collection of houses / art galleries offer individuals the opportunity to “live” with many of the original pieces. This eclectic collection may tempt private individuals, interior designers and collectors looking for something unique.
The art works have been collected by the Rothschild family with some works gracing the walls of Ashton Wold House, the home of the Hon. Miriam Rothschild for many decades. Other more recent acquisitions have been collected by her son Dr Charles Lane, the present owner of Ashton Wold House and surrounding properties who has for over 40 years been an avid art collector (and still is!).
The Hon. Charles Rothschild was a renowned, albeit amateur scientist, who first alighted on the Ashton Estate whilst on a butterfly collection expedition with the Vicar of Polebrook. Stewardship of the central portion of this famous “Model Farm” and country estate has fallen to the scientific (and art loving) branch of this fabled dynasty where the works of art are displayed and housed.
Ashton Holidays Fine Art is an integral part of the holiday business on the Ashton Estate. Anyone staying in one of the exclusive holiday houses can, at their leisure, view the works of art that are on display. The seven holiday houses set deep in the wooded estate accommodate parties of up to a dozen people. More information and rental availability can be found at www.ashtonestatecountryholidays.co.uk
